Whoopi Goldberg enraged Sara Haines by repeatedly referring to her as a “servant” on The View. What led to this?

Whoopi Goldberg isn’t just moderating The View anymore

she’s now overseeing the skies above the Hot Topics table in what can only be described as The Whoopi Goldberg War Room™.

The legendary actress and talk show host kicked off a recent episode of The Weekend View in dramatic fashion,

calling out her cohost, Sara Haines, for making an entrance from a towering platform that seemed straight out of The Lord of the Rings.

Whoopi Goldberg Commands Sara Haines to Descend

The pre-taped weekend edition of The View began with Haines standing high atop a massive structure that loomed over the show’s set.

As she greeted the audience from what appeared to be a nearly impossible height, she confidently declared, “The Weekend View starts right now.”

But before she could continue, Goldberg—who has been known to make the climb herself in the past—immediately interjected from below. With her signature no-nonsense attitude, she yelled, “Get your ass down here right now!”

The audience erupted in laughter as Haines made her way down the staircase, high-fiving fans before jogging toward the Hot Topics table. However, she was met with yet another hilarious roadblock—Goldberg had left her moderator seat and stood directly in her path. The unexpected move left Haines with no choice but to pivot and run the other way before eventually taking her place at the table alongside the rest of the panel.

Goldberg Pulls Double Duty While Joy Behar Takes a Break

Goldberg’s appearance on The Weekend View was notable because she typically has Fridays off from The View. However, with her longtime cohost Joy Behar focusing on her new play, My First Ex-Husband, Goldberg stepped in to cover both Friday’s live broadcast and the weekend episode.

“I’m here to sit in so she can have some rest before she goes back on tonight,” Goldberg told the audience, acknowledging Behar’s absence while keeping the energy high.

What Is The Weekend View?

Launched earlier this year, The Weekend View is an expansion of The View, offering audiences a seven-day-a-week version of the popular talk show. While the weekday edition remains a staple on ABC, the weekend version airs on ABC News Live and ABC-owned TV stations, broadening the show’s reach.

With an extended schedule, the weekend edition maintains the lively discussions and humorous moments that have made The View a longtime favorite among viewers. Goldberg’s recent exchange with Haines only reinforced the show’s commitment to keeping things fresh, fun, and sometimes unpredictable.

Why Is There a Tower on The View’s Set?

One of the biggest questions sparked by the weekend episode was the mysterious giant structure Haines stood on at the start of the show. The towering platform, which has made multiple appearances since The View’s season 28 set revamp, serves no apparent functional purpose—except perhaps adding a dramatic flair to The Weekend View’s opening moments.

Goldberg herself has climbed the structure in the past, making the experience somewhat of a rite of passage for the panelists. Whether it will continue to be a staple of the show remains to be seen, but for now, it’s providing plenty of comedic material.

What’s Next for The View?

As The View continues to evolve, The Weekend View gives fans more opportunities to engage with the show’s signature mix of current events, pop culture discussions, and panelist banter. Whether it’s Goldberg asserting her authority over the Hot Topics table or cohosts like Haines making dramatic entrances, the weekend edition is proving to be just as entertaining as its weekday counterpart.

For those who missed the moment, the hilarious exchange between Goldberg and Haines can be watched online, offering yet another reminder of why The View remains one of television’s most dynamic talk shows.

Catch The View weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC, and tune into The Weekend View on ABC News Live and ABC-owned TV stations for more unscripted fun.
