Kendrick Lamar disappointed fans after evidence surfaced that he lip-synced during his Super Bowl halftime show.

Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, 2025,

has ignited a spectrum of reactions from fans and critics alike.

While some lauded his artistic expression and bold choices, others were less impressed, with a segment of viewers labeling it as the “worst halftime show ever.”

Taking the stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Lamar delivered a 13-minute set that featured a blend of his classic hits and newer material.

The performance commenced with Samuel L. Jackson, adorned as Uncle Sam,

introducing Lamar, who then launched into tracks like “Squabble Up,” “HUMBLE.,” “DNA.,” and “Euphoria.”

The show was accentuated by appearances from SZA, DJ Mustard, and a surprise cameo by Serena Williams.

A focal point of the performance was Lamar’s rendition of “Not Like Us,” a diss track targeting fellow rapper Drake. Notably, Lamar omitted the word “pedophile” from the lyric “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile,” a line that had previously sparked legal action from Drake against their shared record label, Universal Music Group. Despite this omission, Lamar retained other suggestive lines, and the inclusion of Serena Williams—Drake’s ex-girlfriend—performing the Crip Walk on stage added a provocative layer to the act.

The halftime show elicited mixed responses. Some viewers appreciated Lamar’s innovative approach and the integration of social commentary. However, others criticized the performance for its perceived lack of energy and deviation from traditional halftime show expectations. The emphasis on the personal feud with Drake, rather than universally recognized hits, left certain audience members dissatisfied.

Lamar’s performance was imbued with symbolic elements and cultural critiques. The portrayal of Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam, dancers donning patriotic attire, and the thematic focus on American identity and personal conflict highlighted Lamar’s intent to provoke thought and challenge societal norms. This approach marked a departure from the more entertainment-centric halftime shows of the past, aiming instead to deliver a message through artistry.

Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show stands as a polarizing moment in the event’s history. By intertwining personal narrative, cultural symbolism, and artistic expression, Lamar crafted a performance that defied conventional expectations, leaving a lasting impact and sparking widespread discussion.F
