Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s lawyers are at risk of losing their jobs after posting inappropriate comments on their personal pages.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal showdown took a dramatic turn on Monday,

as their attorneys engaged in a heated exchange during the first hearing of their ongoing court battle.

A Manhattan federal judge, Lewis Liman, intervened, warning both sides to keep their statements out of the media

and avoid making any public remarks that could influence potential jurors ahead of the trial scheduled for March 2026.

The conflict, which stems from allegations of harassment on the set of the film *It Ends With Us*, has garnered significant public attention,

and Judge Liman made it clear that the case should be decided in the courtroom, not in the court of public opinion.

He urged both Lively’s and Baldoni’s legal teams to adhere to New York’s rules on public commentary during ongoing litigation. In his remarks, Liman emphasized that the media frenzy surrounding the case should not overshadow the judicial process and suggested that the trial could be moved up if the case continues to be “litigated in the press.”

The court session on Monday was marked by an intense back-and-forth between the attorneys for both Lively and Baldoni. Lively’s lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, accused Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney, of making “inflammatory comments” about the actress. These remarks were allegedly made during an appearance on the podcast of Megyn Kelly, Freedman’s former client. Gottlieb expressed concern that Freedman’s words had been circulated globally and were damaging to Lively’s reputation.

Freedman, on the other hand, countered by accusing Lively’s legal team of collaborating with the *New York Times* for months prior to the release of the newspaper’s explosive article titled “We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine,” which covered the allegations made by Lively. The piece suggested that a coordinated effort had been made to publicly discredit Baldoni, prompting a defamation suit from the actor. In his remarks, Freedman claimed that Lively’s attorneys were not innocent in their media dealings, stating, “This is not a one-way street.”

As the verbal sparring continued, Freedman acknowledged that his back-and-forth with Gottlieb was less than productive, calling it “childish.” Despite admitting that the media battle was becoming unproductive, Freedman emphasized that the issue was initiated by Lively’s side. “This was not started by us, your honor,” he insisted.

The legal dispute began in December 2024, when Blake Lively filed a $250 million lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment during the production of *It Ends With Us*. Lively claimed that Baldoni not only harassed her but also orchestrated a smear campaign in retaliation for her speaking out about the mistreatment. As part of her ongoing legal action, Lively plans to file an expanded version of her suit by February 14, potentially including more claims and adding new defendants to the case.

In response to Lively’s allegations, Baldoni countersued for $400 million, accusing Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, of defaming him. The countersuit references text messages that seemingly involve Lively’s close friend, singer Taylor Swift. Lively’s legal team has not yet made a public comment on the inclusion of Swift in the lawsuit.

During the hearing, Lively’s lawyer stressed that the case involves “a significant number of high-profile individuals,” hinting at the potential involvement of other famous names, though no specific individuals were named. The actress’ team also filed for a protective order to prevent sensitive evidence from being made public.

The drama surrounding *It Ends With Us* has captivated the media, with the legal conflict threatening to overshadow the film’s success. The movie, based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, has been a major talking point in Hollywood, but the harassment claims have shifted the focus from the film’s content to the behind-the-scenes tension.

As the court battle heats up, all eyes are on the outcome of this high-profile case. With both Lively and Baldoni having made public statements regarding the allegations and countersuit, the legal fight promises to be long and contentious. As the trial date looms, it remains to be seen whether both sides can resolve their differences or if the courtroom drama will continue to capture public attention for years to come.
